More and more over the past couple of months, our team of pharmacists has noticed an increase in the amount of the medication Jalyn that our patients are taking.  Jalyn (generic name: tamsulosin and dutasteride) is a combination drug used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, or BPH.  It combines two medications that have been used separately for many years, but it isn’t necessarily the best bang for your buck.  Some of our patients are paying over $130 a month, when options exist to pay $8.00 instead.  So why then, is your doctor prescribing the more expensive one?  Let’s take a look further.
